Each pack contains one adult tag for the mother plus a matching dual-portion infant tag (with separate male and female sections), all bearing identical matching serial numbers. How the Matching System Works

1. On admission: The mother is tagged with the adult wristband. Both portions of the infant tag are filled with the mother’s identifying details. The mother (or attendant) signs the reverse of the infant’s tag.
2. At birth: Once the gender of the newborn is confirmed, the appropriate portion (male or female) is cut and immediately fixed on the infant’s wrist or ankle.
3. The remaining portion is handed back to the mother or her attendant – to be tallied at every nursing handover and at discharge.
4. Matching serial numbers on mother’s wristband, baby’s tag and the retained stub ensure positive identification at every step.
